LWSD Laptop Guidelines
Guidelines for accidentally damaged, loss or stolen laptops.
ACCIDENTALLY DAMAGED LAPTOP
When a student returns a Lenovo laptop that he/she accidentally damaged, one of the following will apply:
1. If insurance was purchased, the laptop will be given to the student for them to take home for their parent/guardian to send to the insurance company for repair.
2. If insurance was not purchased, the laptop is sent to the Tech Solutions Center (TSC) for repair.
- The TCS will return the repaired laptop with a completed 3-part Mobile Device Loss/Repair Fine form.
- The fine will be entered into the Destiny Library/Textbook System by the school's Library Media Specialist.
- The student will be given their copy of the fine form.
- The parent copy will be mailed to their home address.
LOSS OR STOLEN LAPTOP
If a student’s laptop is lost or stolen, one of the following will apply:
1. If insurance was purchased the family must obtain a police report and send the police report to the insurance company with their claim.
- The device will be marked as lost in Destiny by the school's Library Media Specialist.
- The insurance company will reimburse the family, who will in-turn reimburse the district.
2. If no insurance was purchased, the family must obtain a police report and submit it to the school/library.
- The device will be marked as lost in Destiny by the school's Library Media Specialist.
- The school's Library Media Specialist will complete the 3-part fine form and process the fine accordingly.
- The police report will be attached to the building’s copy of the fine form.
3. The loss needs to be reported to Mr. Young in the library ASAP.
