¡Felicidades! – Juanita High School teacher wins educator award

Elmer Delgado YES award winner

One Juanita High School (JHS) teacher received a regional award for the exceptional work he is doing in world language. Elmer Delgado teaches the Spanish for Spanish Speakers (Heritage) class at Juanita High School. He recently received the Cesar Chaves and Dolores Huerta "Si Se Puede" Educator Award by YES (Youth Eastside Services). Lake Washington School District partners with YES in many ways, including work with our Spanish-speaking community. Delgado was specifically called out for his leadership and contributions to the Spanish-speaking community at JHS. In addition to his role in class, Delgado is also the staff advisor for the Latino Voice Club at JHS.

“We are so proud of Elmer and so grateful to the strong leadership and advocacy he brings to our school,” said Kei Tsukamaki, World Languages Department Chair at JHS.
